Mission of the CBS
The mission of the CBS is “to propagate the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, having only Jesus Christ as the head and the Holy Spirit as the guide” (John 16:13). Its objective is to strengthen the Faith and the knowledge of the Word of God in children, helping them develop in spirituality and Christian character.
The CBS is the place where the Meeting dedicated to children ages 3 to 11 is held, to sow the Word of God and its foundations on how to serve and love God and one’s neighbor, with purity and sincerity of heart. This is done with simplicity, through the telling of biblical stories in language that is easy for children to understand.
The CBS also aims to integrate the family, facilitating the fellowship of parents or guardians in the service while the children remain in the Space, receiving instruction in obedience to the Word of God.
The foundation of the Meeting is in the Holy Scriptures, which serve as the basis for the work with children. The Bible adopted by the CHRISTIAN CONGREGATION IN THE UNITED STATES is the standard reference used in all activities of the CBS.
The Meeting for children follows the biblical commandment: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
Objectives of the CBS
- To teach children the love of God and His Word through child-friendly language, introducing them to the Holy Bible and facilitating the understanding and interpretation of the bases of the Faith and the doctrine of Jesus Christ in the CHRISTIAN CONGREGATION IN THE UNITED STATES, considering the teachings given by the guidance of the Holy Spirit to the servants of the Ministry.
- To hold meetings for children with a standardized order that integrates biblical instruction and activities supported by auxiliary graphic resources, facilitating the understanding of the topic addressed and preserving the sacred feeling of the meetings.
- To provide a spiritual environment, conducted with order and holiness, so that children recognize that they are in the house of God and understand the importance of participating in the Meeting dedicated to Our Lord Jesus Christ.
CBS Manual
The CBS Manual is a guidance document intended for the brothers and sisters who make up the work groups — that is, elders responsible for the CBS at regional and local levels, local coordinators, and collaborators. This Manual aims to provide guidelines for the proper functioning of the Children Bible Spaces (CBSs).
The proposal is to establish general guidelines that promote uniformity of procedures, ensuring the maintenance of a spiritual environment in all CBSs. The Manual is divided into three parts: (i) introduction; (ii) general guidelines; and (iii) guidance for the implementation or restructuring of these spaces.
